English:
Eating disorders (EDs) often coexist with personality traits or disorders that significantly complicate the therapeutic process. In such cases, the clinical bond becomes both a treatment tool and a setting where difficulties regarding attachment, emotional regulation, identity, interpersonal trust, and dysfunctional relational patterns play out.
Professionals frequently face specific challenges, such as ruptures in the therapeutic alliance, testing behaviors, idealization and devaluation, dependency, emotional avoidance, conflicts regarding therapeutic boundaries, and intense countertransference reactions. Understanding these phenomena is essential for maintaining effective treatment and preventing professional burnout.
This masterclass aims to provide an integrative understanding of the relational complexities involved in these cases, offering clinical tools to strengthen the therapeutic alliance and facilitate more effective interventions.
