2026, 29 September: iaedp and CoRe-ED Webinar on ARFID and Allergies

CE Hours 1

About this course

Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) presents unique diagnostic and management challenges across clinical settings. This session reviews current diagnostic criteria, explores approaches to recognizing ARFID in high-risk populations, including individuals with food allergies, and examines evidence informed screening and management strategies. Participants will also discuss the role of nutrition assessment, nutrition diagnosis, and interdisciplinary care in developing comprehensive treatment plans. Case studies will illustrate practical applications that support accurate diagnosis, effective intervention, and improved patient outcomes across the lifespan.

Learning Objectives

  • Differentiate Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) from typical picky eating and other feeding and eating disorders using current diagnostic criteria and clinical presentation.
  • Evaluate evidence-informed approaches to screening, nutrition assessment, and interdisciplinary management for individuals with ARFID, including those with co-occurring food allergies.
  • Apply practical strategies for developing individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that address the medical, nutritional, and psychosocial needs of individuals with ARFID.
