Core Course 3: Nutrition Therapy for Treating Eating Disorders

About this course

This workshop outlines the unique and key roles of the registered dietitian who specializes in the treatment of the eating disorder population. Nutrition therapy goals, comprehensive nutrition assessment, refeeding issues and specific medical concerns created by eating disorder behaviors will be discussed within the levels of care for each eating disorder diagnosis, using case studies to illustrate practical strategies. Attention will be given to how therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT and ACT are incorporated into the nutrition care process, and the treatment of special populations and ethical considerations will be highlighted. Core Courses are valid for 90 days after purchase.

  • Delineate the key roles of the nutrition provider who specializes in the treatment of those with eating disorders
  • Identify nutritional and physiological conditions to develop appropriate nutrition rehabilitation goals and plans
  • Understand how therapeutic modalities are utilized by the nutrition provider in the nutrition treatment process for eating disorders

Awarded NEDA 2004 Excellence in Treatment, ADA SCAN 2002 Excellence in Practice, and IAEDP Eating Disorder Specialist 2010 CEDRD Awards. Author of Eating Disorder Learning/Teaching Handout Series. Contributing author to Eating Disorders Clinical Guide to Counseling and Treatment. Specializing in training, supervision, and treatment of the collaborative treatment approach. Presents at national conferences, appears regularly on TV/media, is a NEDA spokesperson, and Advisory Board member of Monte Nido & Affiliates.

  • Rosanna Mauro, MSc, CEDRD

    Es Licenciada en Nutrición, tiene una Maestría en Psicología Grupal, es certificada como Coach Integral por la Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica y como Coach Integrativa en Salud por la Universidad de Arizona. Es especialista en Trastornos de la Conducta Alimentaria (TCA) a través de Iaedp y es la única nutricionista especialista en TCA reconocida por el Colegio de Profesionales en Nutrición de Costa Rica. Tiene más de 15 años de experiencia como nutricionista, expositora y docente en el campo de los TCA en Costa Rica. Actualmente es Directora para Centroamérica del Capítulo Internacional de Iaedp, Directora de Rosanna Mauro Wellness Insitute y de la Fundación Cambio Vital.
