Beatriz Verdi holds a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Universidad Central de Venezuela and an Official Master’s Degree in Psychology from the Universidad Simón Bolívar, Venezuela. She completed two clinical internships: one in Clinical Nutrition and a second specializing in Eating Disorders (ED) at the Teaching Hospital Centro Médico de Caracas, both recognized as leading training programs for nutritionists. She has an extensive professional background in both clinical practice and academia and is an expert in implementing family-based treatment programs for patients with ED. Beatriz is a founding member and former director of the Eating Disorders Unit (UNITCA) at the Hospital Centro Médico de Caracas in Venezuela. She is also the founder and director of Beatriz Verdi Nutrición, based in Madrid, Spain, where she provides direct care to ED patients and their families. She leads a specialized team focused on nutritional treatment, collaborating with other professionals in a multidisciplinary approach. With over 25 years of experience, her expertise spans all three levels of ED treatment: inpatient care, day hospital programs, and outpatient care at institutions such as the Hospital Centro Médico de Caracas and the Hospital de Día del Hospital Universitario Santa Cristina in Madrid, both nationally renowned centers. Lead Facilitator of the Body Image Program (BIP), presented in Spain as “Vive Tu Experiencia BIP”, a project that enhances the relationship with the body. Her work incorporates a gender perspective and Trauma-Informed Nutrition, applying these approaches alongside other treatment modalities in the care of patients with Eating Disorders. In the academic field, Beatriz has been an active contributor to various official postgraduate programs and private training initiatives at prestigious universities and institutions. Currently, she serves as a professor in the Master’s in Eating Disorders Program at the Instituto Superior de Estudios Psicológicos and in the Advanced Knowledge Course on Eating Disorders, offered by the Universidad Central de Venezuela. Additionally, she has held the role of coordinator and professor for the Clinical Nutrition Internship and the Eating Disorders Internship at the Hospital Centro Médico de Caracas. She has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences and symposia and is the author of several scientific publications and book chapters. She is a member of the Academia Española de Nutrición y Dietética, where she belongs to the Specialization Group in Eating Disorders Nutrition. Through the International Chapter of the Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP™), she actively works to promotes educational and professional development initiatives in Spain aimed at advancing the global treatment of eating disorders.
Naiara Aizpurua, Dietitian-Nutritionist and Pharmacist Naiara Aizpurua holds degrees in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and Pharmacy from the University of the Basque Country (Spain), with a Master´s Degree in Kinanthropometry and Sports Nutrition from the University of Valencia. Founder of the Naiara Aizpurua Nutrition Center, Co-Chair for Spain of the international chapter of iaedp™, and member of the Spanish Association for the Study of Eating Disorders (AEETCA). She has advanced training in the treatment of eating disorders, including FBT-informed nutritional counseling for dietitians, nutritional management of binge eating disorders, trauma-informed nutrition, mindfulness, and coaching. She is a facilitative leader of the Body Image Program (BIP) and co-founder of "Vive tu experiencia BIP", a project that develops and implements group programs to strengthen body image. Her clinical practice focuses on the nutritional treatment of individuals with eating disorders and support for their families. She is also co-founder of "Nutriendo el Plato", an educational initiative aimed at family members and caregivers supporting the recovery of loved ones with eating disorders. She works from a gender perspective, with an inclusive approach based on Health at Every Size® (HAES®) and trauma-informed care. Her commitment is to create safe and non-judgmental spaces where people can question social and cultural pressures and recover their holistic well-being. Through her role in the international chapter of iaedp™, her mission is to bring evidence-based treatments closer to health professionals, promoting a practice that values diversity and respects individual experiences, with the goal of continuing to train and collaborate with professionals committed to the treatment of eating disorders.
