About this course

El abordaje clínico de los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria (TCA) exige una mirada integral, sensible y altamente especializada. En este contexto, el examen físico se convierte en una herramienta estratégica para el médico, no solo como procedimiento rutinario, sino como una vía directa para evidenciar el impacto físico, nutricional y psicoemocional que estos trastornos ejercen sobre el cuerpo del paciente. A diferencia de otros escenarios clínicos, en los TCA el cuerpo habla antes que la palabra. El silencio del paciente puede estar lleno de información si el profesional sabe observar.

Learning Objectives

  • Evaluar hallazgos detallados del examen físico,incluyendo inestabilidad sutil de los signos vitales, marcadores dermatológicos y manifestaciones endocrinas para mejorar la detección temprana y la estratificación de riesgo en presentaciones complejas de trastornos de la conducta alimentaria.
  • Evaluar los hallazgos del examen físico con los mecanismos fisiopatológicos subyacentes a los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria, para mejorar la interpretación clínica y aumentar la precisión en el diagnóstico de la severidad médica.
  • Aplicar toma de decisiones clínicas basadas en evidencia al traducir los hallazgos del examen físico en acciones terapéuticas interdisciplinarias, incluyendo criterios de hospitalización, frecuencia del monitoreo médico y coordinaciones de tratamiento

    Aridia Vasquez is physician and a Registered Dietitian certified eating disorders specialist, and certified Intuitive Eating expert. Aridia has had a 13 years of experience in private practice, actively involved in nutrition and positive body image communities. She is the Medical Director of Renovatus by CPE, the first multidisciplinary program in the Dominican Republic for eating disorders. Aridia has designed the first eating disorders workshop awareness for primary care nutritionists in the Dominican Republic which includes a therapeutic dining room and nutrition in eating disorders workshops for parents. Aridia is a member of AED, IAEDP, NEDA, & IFEDD
