NC iaedp's annual Training Day aims to support professionals across disciplines in expanding their knowledge of eating disorder treatment and connect with others in the field. Throughout the day, you will learn from local experts, including dietitians and therapists, about relevant and timely topics pertaining to eating disorder treatment. This event is perfect for anyone interested in the treatment of eating disorders, from practitioners who have been in the field to folks just starting their career.     Christine Northrup (She/her) LCSW, CEDS-C, SEP Christine owns and works as a therapist and somatics-integrated clinical supervisor at Take Root Counseling and coaching. She wholeheartedly believes in valuing the innate wisdom of the individuals whom she serves as the guiding force of transformational healing. She is trained in Somatic Experiencing, Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders, and Somatic Sexuality Healing. Christine is fascinated by the potential of working with both the attachment and sensory processing systems to promote nervous system regulation and eating disorder recovery.

  • Nooshin Ghazi
    Nooshin Ghazi-Moghaddam (she/her), MPH, RD, LDN, CEDS, is the Manager of Nutrition Services at The Emily Program’s RTP Child & Adolescent Eating Disorder IP/Residential Treatment Center in Durham, North Carolina. Nooshin attended the University of South Florida, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health. She completed her Master of Public Health with a focus on Nutrition & Dietetics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health. Nooshin started with the Emily Program working with adults across all levels of care to provide individualized medical nutrition therapy as well as facilitating groups and developing group content for dietetic education. Throughout her career as a Registered Dietitian, Nooshin has treated children, adolescents, and adults with eating disorders across the inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of care. Nooshin is passionate about all things food and dedicated to helping people explore and improve their relationship with it.

  • Leah Graves, RDN, LDN, hon CEDS-C, F.iaedp, FAED
    Leah L. Graves, RDN, LDN, hon CEDS-C, F.iaedp, FAED brings more than 40 years of experience in eating disorder nutrition care across clinical practice, health system leadership, education, and advocacy. She is Principal of Graves Nutrition Consultancy, LLC and a Partner with Complex Solutions for Eating Disorders, providing advanced consultation, training, and program development to professionals and treatment organizations. Leah is a Certified Trainer for Dietitians with the Temperament-Based Therapy with Support (TBT-S) Training Institute and Co-Editor of Eating Disorder Review, the clinical journal of the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp), roles that position her at the forefront of developing and disseminating best practice nutrition care in eating disorder treatment. A founding member and Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED) and a Fellow of iaedp, she currently co-chairs the AED Nutrition Task Force and is a frequent national and international speaker and author focused on advancing standards of nutrition therapy for eating disorders.

  • Rachel Lewis-Marlow, LCMHC, LMBT
    Rachel Lewis-Marlow (she/her) is the director and lead faculty member of the Embodied Recovery Institute which provides training to eating disorders providers in a trauma-informed, relationally oriented and somatically integrative approach to eating disorders treatment. She is a somatically integrative psychotherapist, dually licensed in counseling and therapeutic massage and bodywork, a Certified Advanced Practitioner in Sensory Motor Psychotherapy and has advanced training and 35+ years of experience in diverse somatic therapies. Rachel has extensive experience as a teacher and presenter, focusing on the body’s unique capacity to voice the subconscious and to build the foundation for healing and maintaining psychological and physical health. In her private practice, Rachel specializes in working with people recovering from trauma, eating disorders and dissociative disorders.

  • Madeline Koermer, MSW, LCSW
    Maddie Koermer (she/her) is a Clinical Manager of Outpatient Services at The Emily Program’s Triangle Child, Adolescent & Adult Eating Disorder Treatment Center in Durham, North Carolina. Maddie greatly appreciates being part of a client’s care team and enjoys walking alongside clients and families as they navigate the recovery journey. Maddie obtained her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Loyola University of Chicago and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in North Carolina. She began her career at The Emily Program (formerly Veritas Collaborative) in 2016 and has experience working with clients and their families across multiple levels of care, including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP). She is particularly passionate about the PHP and IOP levels of care and multi-family programming. As a clinical manager, Maddie is always pleased to help connect families to psychoeducational and supportive resources in their local area. She also thoroughly enjoys supervising student interns and clinicians in eating disorder treatment. Maddie pulls from various treatment modalities, including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), family-based therapy (FBT), and motivational interviewing. She strongly believes that every eating disorder is significant enough to receive help. Maddie embraces diversity and believes in the importance of a non-judgmental, inclusive recovery environment. Maddie is an active Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Council member at Accanto Health.

  • Kathryn H. Gordon, Ph.D., LP
    Kathryn Hope Gordon, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist and the Director of Clinical Training at Equip. For the first 10 years of her career, she was a professor at North Dakota State University (NDSU) who taught mental health-related classes and published research focused on suicide prevention and disordered eating. After working at NDSU, Dr. Gordon then provided therapy services at Sanford Women’s Health Clinic in Fargo, ND for 3 years. Dr. Gordon is the author of The Suicidal Thoughts Workbook: CBT Skills to Reduce Emotional Pain, Increase Hope, and Prevent Suicide and The Suicidal Thoughts Guided Journal: CBT Practices to Soothe Emotional Pain, Build Coping Skills, and Find Hope. Dr. Gordon's current role at Equip focuses on training providers in evidence-based treatments for eating disorders.
