Dr. Joel Jahraus is Vice President of Medical Services at Monte Nido, supervising medical care in all programs. He graduated from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, Missouri, completed residency in St. Paul, MN and completed the Executive Leadership Program at the Carlson School of Business at the University of Minnesota. A board-certified physician for over 40 years, he is a recognized expert on medical complications of eating disorders and is known for his decades of specialization in the medical management of patients with eating disorders.
He co-authored chapters on eating disorders in both the “Textbook of Psychosomatic Medicine” and “The Treatment of Eating Disorders: A Clinical Handbook” and testified at a U.S. Congressional briefing on the need for health insurance coverage for eating disorder treatment. He received the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor and was named a Top Doctor of 2013 by “U.S. News and World Report.” He has been featured in numerous media outlets including People Magazine and two National Public Television NOVA documentaries on the topic of eating disorders.
